Campaign structure

The standalone story mode puts you behind Michael Myers’ mask and begins around his escape from Smith’s Grove Sanitarium. It is built as an alternate, extended version of “The Night He Came Home,” told from Michael’s perspective.

Official material confirms six chapters, each with core objectives but sandbox-style freedom in how you complete them. Dr. Samuel J. Loomis narrates the story and in-engine cinematics connect the chapters.

What replaying chapters is for

Each chapter can include:

  • Secondary challenges
  • Story collectibles and lore
  • New executions or gameplay scenarios
  • Alternate outfits and multiplayer cosmetics
  • Multiple difficulty settings
  • Score/rating targets
  • Different approaches to the same core objective

A developer Q&A also describes checkpoints for tougher sections and emphasizes that there is not one mandatory way to complete every situation.

Multiple endings are confirmed

Earlier official story material confirms multiple endings affected by player actions. The exact number and requirements are not yet public, so any pre-launch “all endings guide” would be guesswork.

Why story mode matters for multiplayer

The campaign is designed to introduce Michael’s abilities and reward replay with multiplayer cosmetics. That makes it both a narrative mode and an onboarding route for players who want to learn the killer role without immediately entering public matchmaking. Pair it with the abilities guide and progression tracks.
